Piece's Description
Piece's Description
“Structure held in quiet tension — where each line carries weight, and nothing is excess.”
Rooted in a wabi-sabi sensibility, the Atelier Chair explores balance through contrast — strength and restraint, solidity and lightness. Its grounded stance is defined by clean geometry, while subtle irregularities in proportion and surface reveal the hand behind its making.
Crafted from reclaimed wood, each element remains visually honest — joints, edges, and grain are left expressive rather than concealed. The dark, carbonized finish deepens the material’s presence, drawing out tonal variation and the natural character of the wood beneath.
More than seating, it functions as a sculptural object — designed to quietly anchor a space.

Materials
Crafted from reclaimed pine and fir, selected for their density, grain variation, and natural aging. The wood carries inherent markings knots, hairline cracks, and tonal shifts preserved as part of its character rather than removed.
The surface is treated through a controlled carbonization process, lightly charring the outer layer to enhance durability while revealing deeper grain contrast and texture.
Craftsmanship
Each chair is constructed using traditional joinery techniques, where structural integrity is achieved through precise alignment rather than reliance on hardware.
The wood is individually cut, set, and assembled to maintain balance across its asymmetric stance. Slight variations in angle and proportion are intentional, reinforcing a sense of tension and visual rhythm.
The surface is hand-finished after charring brushed and sealed to stabilize the material while preserving its raw, tactile quality. Natural cracks and irregularities are left visible, making each piece inherently one of a kind.
